Maybe I'm being cynical but maybe this another way of forcing us onto using EE instead of BT?

EDIT: I just tried the app on my phone.

Seems to work perfectly well. No issues with logging out.

I can login to MyBT ok but when I try to logout, I get an 'Application Error'

This is happening on two different computers.

I now seem to be permanently logged in.

I have the same issue. It started yesterday when I tried to log it after checking my account details for the month. I think the problem has been resolved temporarily by clearing the BT website data and cookie in the browser. Haven’t tried the BT App yet, that’s next on my list.

The BT website has been a bit odd lately, it seems to be being updated frequently but without anyone checking any changes before letting it loose on the web. Incidentally, if you use the link to the EE website it still reports a “technical error” before bringing up EE. I recall this one has been around for quite some time. Not a showstopper but just a nuisance which makes the website look a bit like no-one really bothers about it. A sign of the times, perhaps?
