There are no guarantees, especially not from anyone this BT customer forum as far as what the Openreach tech will or won’t do , but they do ‘consult’ with the customer and if what you want is reasonable and doable ( and it sounds as though it is ) then chances are the tech will do as you want

Fibre install

Hi all,

Been told by BT that they are upgrading my broadband to full fibre next week.

My current (FTTC) broadband comes via a telegraph pole across the road, down the wall of the house , and through into the lounge, next to which are several power sockets and the router is there also (landline is plugged in to white box as well as the router)

When they install the fibre, will they just pull out the old telephone cable and put the fibre-optic cable through that (and put the new ONT thing in place of the old master socket?)

I've been told it's switching to digital voice in the same day so the old telephone line will be redundant.

I don't want any new holes drilled when the can surely use the old one to save mess. The new fibre-optic modem thing would be exactly where Id want it to be. I can upgrade the phone handsets to WiFi ones later (only really use landline as a backup to keep the wife happy)

Any advice?

Thanks

Kevin
