Will the move to Digital Voice see the aluminum cable replaced by fiberoptic. Will that see an improved speed for the internet both up and down load

digital voice does not require in any change to your existing broadband delivery system

your PSTN line is being 'retired' for phone use hence the move to digital voice which works without problem on your existing broadband connection

Eventually they’ll achieve a National FTTP Roll Out to every premise in the U.K.

This won’t happen as fast as people think though.

Openreach have either hit or are close to hitting their Reach26 Target.

Once they have their Build is going to slow down until they start to make more money. Basically they’ve passed 17 Million Homes yet only about 4 Million people are connected so far.

So in regards to Openreach, can’t speak for Alt Nets you could get FTTP in the next 6 weeks, 6 months or even 6 years.

The copper (or aluminium) line is not being retired, the PSTN equipment in the exchange is. All the talk about lines is what has caused confusion The media has been the biggest guilty of this misinformation, no need to continue it by saying PSTN line as well.

This confusion has been caused by BT saying in most of their blurb about DV that they're "retiring the old copper phone lines". They're not - they're just retiring the old connection equipment at the exchanges.
The copper (or aluminium) lines will stay in place until they are eventually replaced with fibre optic cables to the premises (FTTP), but this a completely separate - and much more extended timescale - operation.
