This is a post office issue as the address has been incorrectly reported to them and Openreach uses the Post Office address database.

Go here Report an incorrect or missing address Change or report the details there. Ufortunately it will take about a month for the change to be propergated but it will happen.

I had to do this years ago as none of the flats I moved into had been redistered, thne we had to ring in to the postal code service to get them registered. The PO person registered them as Flats 1-4 rather than individual flats, Flat1, Flat2,etc.

Again another problem to sort out.

Select Address needs to be updated on Postcode finder.

Address Confusion - FTTP

I'm about to move into an upstairs flat which is in a standard Victorian terrace with one lower floor (30A) and one upper floor flat (30B).

Trying to sort out broadband, but the address lookup has multiple addresses:

30

WBC FTTP Up to 1000 Up to 220 -- Available KCI2 Assure

Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential MDU Fed from OH CBT to External CSP (2-4 NAD). FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered.

30A

WBC FTTP Up to 1000 Up to 220 -- Available KCI2 Assure

Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential MDU Fed from OH CBT to External CSP (2-4 NAD). FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered.

30A-30B

WBC FTTP Up to 1000 Up to 220 -- Available KCI2 Assure

Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential MDU Fed from OH CBT to External CSP (2-4 NAD). FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered.

30B

FTTP on Demand 1000 220 -- Available --

FTTP is not available.

So I'm confused as to whether 30B can have FTTP - the BT Broadband site says no, only part-fibre, the seller used Sky which also says part-fibre only, but others like Virgin Media say yes. What is correct? What addrerss do I use? And what is 30? 30A-30B?

Any explanation appreciated!

Things can happen like this when addresses have a non standard format .

What does the Royal Mail site show for the address , as these should be the registered postal addresses , and OR records may need to be matched against the RM records.

FWIW , if 30A and 30B are the official addresses , then 30 and 30A- 30B are superfluous/duplicate and unnecessary , currently 30A can order FTTP , 30B cannot , presumably you are moving into 30B .

You could try and sort out the address inconsistencies and then order , or order and sort out the address issues once service is in using ‘30’ and obviously when the installation tech calls , you tell them it’s actually 30B , getting the record corrected in advance is the better option.

https://www.openreach.com/forms/fibre-broadband-availability---customer-form

Fill in this formwise , there is a section to complete along the lines of ‘ my neighbour can get FTTP but I can’t’ , that should get Openreach to align their own data to match the RM entry

Virgin Media has no relevance unless you want to use them , in which case why are you posting here

As far as how this happened, the address was No.30 originally, some conversions are done the correct way , some are ‘unofficial’ potentially leaving the original address in records as well as the what the building will be now know as ,

Thanks for your help.

Royal Mail PAF have 30, 30A and 30B (I sort of assumed 30 was a left over from before the house was converted some 10 years ago and 30A and 30B are the official addresses now).

Reference to Virgin Media was just as a note, don't want to use them - unless it's the only option.

If I seach for BT broadband on 30, 30A and 30A-30B, all offer FTTP; only 30B does not have it. Should I do the form (and how long does this normally take?) or can I order using 30 or 30A-30B and sort out the address later?

As stated you can do either , if you ordered as No 30 for example, the order would almost certainly proceed , you simply advise the installer that service is needed in 30B , chances are they won’t care that the order says No.30 , not 30B ……..your billing etc would show No.30 which would be wrong , but unless getting bills in the post , hardly a massive issue , you then try to explain the error after installation, and get it corrected , but you would be speaking to the ISP (BT ) not Openreach , so at best the billing address is corrected not the installation address , so any subsequent occupant may face the same issue , the preferred way is to contact Openreach , apparently the response to the formwize is pretty quick .
