FF Installation Outside Work

We had full fibre installed today and I didn't see the outside until after the workmen had left.

My question is, should it have been left open like that?

If that conduit previously had a weather cap over it, then it should have been put back. If the cap is in the trash then the quick fix could be a little DIY, but yes, the contractors should have done this, or at least brought it to your attention!

I suspect what happened is the square cover that was covering the copper cable going into the house, you can see its outline on the image ( BT cover 101a if interested and wanted to order one online yourself ) was brittle due to years of UV exposure and in trying to get the optical cable past it , it disintegrated, and it’s not necessarily something an installer, especially a contractor would have on their vehicle….

TBH , that’s not what I’d be unhappy with , I’d be more disappointed that the new CSP (the new grey box ) wasn’t fitted directly on top of the grey capping , a neater job and would have covered the copper cable as well .

Just to be clear , is this an Openreach installation and BT are your ISP , if the CSP is Openreach it’s presumably a relatively new design.

Yes I expected CSP to be directly at top which would have covered things.

Job was done by Circet, subcontracted from Openreach on behalf of BT/EE.
