A Pole could be classed as ‘D’ for a multitude of reasons.

Not going too, and couldn’t possibly list all of them but sometimes they can add new equipment to D Poles and sometimes nothing new can be added or taken away.

It’s most likely they want to put a CBT on there but can’t until said Pole is replaced so they’ve probably done a, ‘Partial Commission’ of the PON and once the Poles been replaced they’ll come back and do an Incremental Build to finish the PON off.

Hi,

My street has recently got FTTP service installed on the poles apart from the pole that my current copper service is coming from. So everyone else can order fibre broadband but the ones that are coming from that pole. Now ive checked recently that bt has deemed that pole a D pole recently but that shouldn't affect putting a CBT on that pole. now my question is how can i find out why the CBT wasnt installed on the pole?

Are you a BT broadband customer? If pole marked 'D' then defective and would need a cherry picker for any installation have you checked DSLchecker

um, im not sure you're understanding what i mean. all of the street has fibre run to the poles except the pole that is currently bringing the copper line in to my house. everyone else on this road can get fibre except me and the properties coming off the same pole as me. i am wondering why.

Not sure that you understand that this has nothing to do with BT, it is Openreach that provide the network not BT.

Hope you don't mind the tag-on question -Similar situation where all poles in the street except 'mine' are able to have CF or HyperOptic. 30-odd homes can't have fibre which is a pity! The CBT was installed ages ago, and there are no markings or notices on the pole re: defects. Speaking briefly to passing OR engineer they said they couldn't immediately see any reason why, yet checking both supplier sites results in a big fat no.

What's the best way to find out from OR for good what the actual reason for the pole not being active for fibre? I've tried their site and even logging a ticket to say it's faulty but no one ever comes back. I just want to know why, either way! The easiest way would be to provide the pole reference/location to OR and for someone to check.

Edit: Pics from checker for MY address and also the same postcode but served by the neighbouring pole. Those houses all have fibre as I've used it!
MY:

NEIGHBOUR:

Thanks for your time.

From the 'MY' AND ' NEIGHBOUR' stats neither shows that full fibre FTTP is available to either of you. Have you tried contacting CF or hyperopic and see why you have been excluded

City Fibre and Hyperoptic have nothing to do with BT and although they are allowed to leech onto Openreach physical infrastructure like poles , the FTTP network they provide on OR physical assets is their own, the individual parts of OR infrastructure they want to use is up to them, if they seem to have not used some Openreach infrastructure and that decision disadvantages you , that decision has nothing to do with Openreach , let alone BT, basically no one at BT or OR will care about that , why in earth would they ?

TBH , it seems incredible that you are asking here on a BT customer forum , why those two companies ( direct competitors to BT and Openreach ) haven’t enabled your property for FTTP when some neighbours are enabled for those companies , why would you be looking at a BT checker ,for those competitors is completely pointless, hopefully you now realise they are competitors not partners.

If you want to know why City Fibre and Hyperoptic don’t offer your address service, you need to ask them , your lack if CF or Hyperoptic availablity is of no consequence to BT or OR , and by extension this forum
