PLACED ORDER 4 WEEKS AGO- STILL NO OPENREACH WORK DONE

As title, I placed my order to upgrade to full-fibre almost 4 weeks ago now, and as of today Openreach have still not been to carry out any required external works. I have received the necessary stuff to send back wi-fi disc and hybrid connect, which was disabled the day my broadband was supposed to be upgraded. It's frustrating as I had a week's holiday booked so that the work would be carried out without interference as I work from home a lot. Every day it just rolls over that Openreach will be there next day.

This is for a modern fully ducted property, yours may very depending on the age of the property and the existing method of service for the copper pair network , the FTTP installation method will say KCI2 assure or single stage , if KCI2 then an issue was observed at survey and means a two stage installation is required, in which case the first date is just to determine what work is required in advance and put into in place before the second contractual date is given

Showing as KCI2 assure, so I just need to keep waiting on external works then? It's an older house, not new build

What does the survey note show for your address ? , notes like ‘partial DIG’ could indicate that significant civils work is required , and depending on notification of the council etc , it could take quite some time to complete

As I stated , partial direct in ground (DIG) was typically the way service was delivered to housing built in the 1960’s through to the very early 1990’s , as it suggests the copper cables are buried directly in the ground , not in ducts , this means to get optical cables to houses significant excavation is required to install new ducts , joint boxes etc to house the optical equipment and cables ….this is very expensive and time consuming.

Depending on his far away from the newly installed FTTP optical network is from your address (potentially 100m) lots of excavation may be needed , obviously it could be much less than 100 metres , but any DIG address ordering FTTP should expect a delay, and in some cases , where the costs exceed the allowed budget the consumer may be asked to contribute or the order cancelled
