Err, no you don't have full fibre if an NTE5c has been fitted. Your broadband is still being delivered by the copper cable.

Hello, we upgraded to fibre recently.
The open reach guy arrived and fitted a 5C cable box and left the premises. No good buy, no communication just left his mess and went!

Entering the box is what looks like an old phone cable. Can I cut this off? Surely it is not the fibre supply. No landline needed. thanks.

That is a socket for FTTC not the box (ONT) for someone getting a full fibre connection. Where do the 2 cables go from master socket

Have you painted since the Engineer Visited?

Also that box to the right looks like a UFS Breakout Box Openreach use for FTTP MDU’s.

The reason I ask if you’ve painted since the visit is it looks like there’s a cable coming from out of the NTE and into what I’m sure is a Breakout Box but has been painted over?

Thanks

Not sure what fttc or ONT is

The cable heading doward is an old bt cable. The other is a fibre cable ( left exposed so the painters painted over it) Sorry, really poor work by the open reach guy.

This is connected through the wall to the gadget below

I don't think the painted over cable is a fibre cable and, if it was, it wouldn't be emerging from a master socket.
Fibre to the premises (FTTP) can only be installed using an ONT - as imjolly has pictured. I think you must have fibre to the cabinet (FTTC), which uses the old copper cable from the street cabinet to your house. BT confuse matters be calling both FTTP and FTTC a "fibre" service.

OP says in message 5 it is a Fibre Cable and makes reference to it connecting to something below but hasn’t included the image I think they wanted to include.

Also I genuinely wouldnt be surprised if said Engineer just removed the old Incoming Copper Cable from behind the NTE and used the existing hole for the Fibre Cable and is using the NTE to cover it.

Not sure when they’d do that as I’m sure Openreach now provide a backing plate that screws onto a flush mounted back box and the ONT clips onto it.

Hi, sorry for the slow response, I have been unable to login recently but now magically it works.
First thing to say is the speed is great 500 mbps as promised by SKY. Just feel a bit let down with Open Reach. He said the Sky box would be fine in the Hall and would reach the rest of the house no problem - Wrong! He fitted the kit, the boxes loose on the wall. No instructions nothing and left without any communication and the Old BT cable left hagging down and disappearing under the carpet! What i would like to know is if that cable is the connection to the fibre, or just a redundant cable

That NTE is old as, Openreach, a BT Group Business ceased in 2017 and it became a Ltd Company.

I’ve got a feeling that NTE was already in situ before the Engineer arrived.

That or said Engineer just happened to find a box of old NTE’s somewhere in an ATE or TEC somewhere. Although I can’t see why he’d install it when he could get a newer branded one from Stores just as easily.
