You should be able to switch from satellite to streaming with Sky. (Sky are gradually phasing out the satellites anyway). You do not need a faster connection, however. Unless you have three kids, all playing online games, at the same time you are trying to stream, the speed you have is perfectly adequate. Sky are just trying to sell you a more expensive package.

Hello,

My satellite TV is becoming un reliable due to trees blocking the line of sight.

The dish has been moved numerous times to find a signal

I now wish to move to a streaming box, BUT the copper to house has insufficient band width at 68.

Due to a medical condition I really rely on the tv.

The newly built houses next door have full fibre to house.

BUT my house still has no date for the upgrade.

How can I get full fibre installed NOW?

68Mb is more than 10x the bandwidth required for a HD stream and will handle 2x4K streams without difficulty…68Mb seems more than adequate for your needs , as far as FTTP ‘now’ , BT don’t install network, they use Openreach , you can get FTTPod (fibre on demand) where you pay for the network construction costs ( often in the 10x of thousands ££’s) ,BT don’t offer this Openreach product so you would have to make enquiries with an ISP that does .

Thank you for your response.

Sky person suggested that replacing a sky box and a mini sky box would require more

Yes I know BT don't

But open reach have no contact

if you have a sky main box and a mini that suggests you have SKYQ. is your SKYQ connected to the BT router by ethernet or wifi? if wifi then I would suggest you go to hub manager then wireless and change the 5ghz channel from smart to something other than 36 say 48 as SKYQ uses channel 36 and may have conflict

The problem is the signal from the satellite dish is obstructed and there is no other suitable placement. Hence the need to ditch skyq and go for a streamer.

But even so you still meet their criteria.

If they won't sell you their Stream service you can always sign up with Now TV & either use the apps built into a smart TV or buy an Amazon Firestick or Roku device.

SKY are trying to discourage satellite customers from switching to Sky stream due to the large revenue loss. You cannot switch online but if you call them and threaten to leave altogether they will give in and switch you.
