It depends..if you order the 1.6 or 900mbps package yes .

Anything less then you can still get it but it's £10 a month.

Alternatively buy one from Ebay.

Thanks, is it a smooth switchover? Just saw on the choose your package section the Router is listed as a £10 monthly extra. Is that to all new customers or just switchers from BT.

It should be straightforward but you can never tell.

Apparently the wifi 7 router is only now "free" with 1.6 mbps. Everyone else including new customers it's £10 monthly.

If you're switching to EE you are entitled to the wifi 6 router which you will find is a vast important over your current BT router.

Thanks, is the wifi 6 router sent or is it one you have to beg for. Might be worth switching just for the better router and can get a 12 month contract cheaper for some reason, annoyingly the prices seem to change every time I log into either BT or EE to check options to switch 🙂

You have to ask otherwise they expect you to keep the BT router.

If you google "EE WiFi7 router", you'll see several options to buy this item, which might work out cheaper in the long run than paying a monthly rental charge

Lots on ebay for around £60. Not bothered personally as it's white and too high for where my router lives and not completely convinced it's a vast improvement over 6.

So it'd work out of the box with BT as with the Smart Hub 2 the username password seem to be hard coded and no way i can change them, I'd assume it'd be the same with any EE router too.

Basically out of contract and no cost difference between BT and EE but reading the forum seems setting yourself up for a fall switching to EE. Could go to Sky but they just give out a Wifi 5 router on the 500mb package which is all i need in terms of speed. Main stumbling block is having a landline as don't want the hassle of getting new phones when i have the DV ones already

The SSiD and password can be changed on the Smarthub 2. I've done it on many SH2s.

I too have BT 500mbps..with the BT router I was averaging 200mbps

Bought EE wifi 6 router for £30 plugged it in and now it often exceeds the 500mbps

Thanks that was the sort of thing I was possibly aiming to do as quite happy with BT but with kids and lots of WiFi hungry connections thought W6 might be a good idea. Did you have to tweak the EE router at all?

Log on to the hub management page the click on the wireless section. In the lower menu bar click on "Change Settings" then enter your admin password which then opens the "Advance" settings. You should now be able to click on the SSiD and Password boxes and make any changes. Remember to click save when you finished.

I was talking about the login to the network which is set as bthomehub@btbroadband.com rather than the wifi network details, thanks

So bthomehub@btbroadband.com would work with EE and whatever is set on the EE router work with BT?
