Non-Existent Fibre Broadband ?

FWIW.

I had a knock on my door, a BT Salesman, fully badged-up, selling BT Fibre Broadband. The problem, fibre has never been provided to the building.
I showed the guy the 'blue-pulling-in-rope' appearing from the end of the poly-duct, at the base of the outside wall. The same poly-duct that the FTTC cable appears and enters the building through a conservation-area door frame. That's as far as BT Fibre has ever got, outside wall, faded blue-rope, laying in the communal gardens. Everything BT in the internal-riser is FTTC, 20-pair Box Conn, only 12-pairs utilised.
I inquired as to the price of the non-existent fibre; as it turns out, half the price I'm currently contracted.
I excused myself, so the salesman could ponder his next move: he continued knocking on doors hawking fibre that doesn't exist. It amused me !
Today ended with a smile on my face. I just live for a good gaslighting.

Are you absolutely sure it was a BT salesman? AFAIK, BT have never done door to door selling and I haven't heard that they are starting this. I wonder if the salesman was from an AltNet impersonating someone from BT, or maybe a low-life trying to "case" your house? Did he show you any document confirming his BT employment?

Do you live in an MDU, aka Block of Flats.

If it is and there is no more than 15 Flats then it is normal for Openreach to build enough capacity for each flat to the nearest Splitter Node then as and when a resident orders FTTP it will evoke a, ‘Reactive Build’ Job for the Openreach MDU Team to build internally within the MDU.

Hmm, yes, I live & learn!
Personally, though, I'd treat BT/EE's door to door salesmen as unwanted as Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses and people trying to sell brushes or clothes pegs.
Do BT really think they are going win friends and influence people by doing this?

FWIW.

I did identify the BT Salesman, by scrutinising his ID Badge at length. As a BT Consumer, he couldn't do anything for me.
He did bang on about the Post Code Checker showing fibre. Full Fibre/Part Fibre ? It's not a perfect PCC world.
The building is FTTC and there are 12 properties reducing to 8 available for services; less than 15, then.
Conservation Area rules apply. No incoming ducts, no internal traywork, archaic multi services wooden riser.
The local PCP and adjacent BB furniture are 50meters 'los' away. The fading in the sun & rain, dormant 'blue-pulling-in-rope' hasn't far to go, if it's ever roused from it's slumbers.
Looking in my 'Available Networks' BT's popularity is in decline, a minority: a diminutive 3 of 16, EE 7 of 16, the remaining 6, liquorice allsorts; no, Bertie Bassett doesn't live here.

Conclusion. An island of BT Part Fibre / FTTC in a burgeoning sea of other ISP's Full Fibre. Ho-hum !

Presumably @Kodikid meant FTTP. Any body would think he is a septuagenarian given the number of times he gets things wrong.

As far as I am aware G.Fast is no longer an option with BT
