Get the Hub installed as high off the ground as possible, Ring customer service and ask for additional black wi-fi discs. I have 2 discs and get great wi-fi both in the house and the summerhouse which is at the bottom of the garden and has one of the discs in it.

We had our full fibre 500 broadband installed this afternoon. When I leave the room where the router is the signal often cuts out and very poor connection. No connection in kitchen or upstairs. I rang customer service and they said after midnight it will be better.. is that true because the customer care person sounded confused on the phone and didn’t sound convincing.

What a load of rubbish.

It will not improve with the passage of time. I guess the Customer Service rep just wanted you off the phone as he/she obviously had no idea how to assist you.

Did you have BT Broadband before or is this a new install?

Have you done a speed test to see what speed you are getting?

Thank you for your reply. Her words were ‘it is still being set up, after middnight tonight it will be better’ - I wasn’t convinced hence messaging on here! I noticed there are a lot of messages complaining about the poor signal.

Yes this is a new installation with BT.

thr speed is fine it’s just the signal. I go in the kitchen for example and the WiFi drops and upstairs!

Putting the router higher up and making sure there are no large objects close to it may help but it's a bit of a black art with Wi-Fi. Two other big things to avoid are metal objects and anything containing water. (In other words, pipes are a big problem).

One thing may be useful, that you may not be aware of. As the connection between the router and the ONT (the Optical Network Terminal) is proper ethernet, it can be up to a 100m long. In other words, the router can be in a different room to the ONT provided you can run some ethernet cable between them.

I think you have to be on the complete wi-fi package and you are then entitled to up to 3 wi-fi discs as part of the package.
