The green cable connects to a Nokia G-2426G-B which I think is a combined ONT and Router. So If I moved to EE would I be able to connect the EE fibre hub to it ?

Thanks.

I'm thinking of moving from Jurassic Cuckoo Fibre to EE. And wondering if anyone knows if Ee would install a new line from the pole to tge property or would they just take over the existing line that Jurassic installed and would I just connect the EE router to the wall socket.

Thanks,

Del.

Interesting. Some sort of indoor CSP perhaps?

Edit: one of these?

As @Crimliar says, best to ask the ISP that put it in.

Best place to ask about this would be the ISP who previously supplied the property, and if you are moving to EE then in future you'd be better on their support forums.

However, having seen similar, I believe it's just a passive fibre connection box, with the fibre then connecting to your combined GPON/Router. If I'm correct on that, then switching to BT or EE could be a little more complex as it's likely the previous fibre infrastructure was not commissioned by OpenReach. Too many ifs, buts, and maybes to say much more!

Thanks Crimliar, I think you're right, I'm pretty sure it was installed by Jurassic Fibre/ Cuckoo, overhead cable from the pole to the property and through the window casement. I'd like to move to EE and sales have said they would take over the existing cable, but I think a completely fresh install is needed. Thanks for your reply.

As that isn’t Openreach equipment, then EE will not be using it as they only use Openreach , so the EE representative was wrong or at best misinformed, obviously if there is an Openreach CSP/ONT at and in the property as well as that equipment then the OR kit can be reused ….is Openreach available at the address ? ( let alone previously installed at the address ) , you can check here ( if you don’t already know )

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome

I think OR is available, my neighbour has just had Vodaphone FF installed from the same pole, EE sales gave given me the priducts available but I'm concerned that he said they would use the same cabling. The only Full Fibre at my property is the stuff installed by Jurassic/Cuckoo as in the pic of my op.

If the address has FTTP available from Openreach and what’s more if a service had been previously installed , that information is shown on the BTw checker on the link provided, post the entire return if help needed interpreting the results.

If Openreach FTTP is available, but never previously installed , then the EE representative was wrong , but if you said there is FTTP equipment already inside the address they may have incorrectly assumed it would be OR kit , not an Alt Net , if you pointed out it was the Alt Net equipment and they still said it will be reused by OR for EE then they were wrong , TBH these staff are not technical or engineering staff.

I’m not sure what difference it makes anyway , the OR ordering system wouldn’t be as potentially uninformed as the EE representative, it ‘knows’ if an Openreach ONT is already fitted or not , and if it isn’t , a full installation appointment will be arranged if an order is raised , it’s only if the back end systems show an Openreach ONT exists ( one that is still connected to the headend ) that they would just send a router without needing an engineer visit .

If the issue is you actually want that Alt Net equipment reused by EE , as you don’t want a new installation ( that’s assuming there hasn’t been an Openreach FTTP installation previously ) that’s not viable, BT/EE will never available on that Alt Net equipment , you would need to look elsewhere

FYI , if no ONT has ever been previously fitted the checker states something along the lines of
‘WBC FTTP available, a new ONT may be ordered’ , if the address is recorded as a previous OR FTTP service existed , its something like ‘ONT exists with no active service’

It seems FTTP is available, single stage , overhead , no anticipated issues , so no previous Openreach FTTP installation , if FTTP ordered , the same pole and fixing at the house will (almost certainly ) will be used , duplicating the copper wire route , however the ONT doesn’t need to be where the copper pair master socket is , it can be where you would like it , within reason .

https://www.openreach.com/help-and-support/full-fibre-broadband-installation-checklist

That's Brilliant, so in effect Open Reach would replace the overhead copper pair from the pole to the property with fibre cable and install a proper ont where I want it, leaving the Jurasic Fibre install in place.

Many thanks for your excellent help.
