Really?

Two years ago invested in a wifi 6 router to take full advantage of my BT 500mbps

For two years I basked in glorious speeds over wifi of often above 500mbps.

On the 5th September I signed up to plusnet 500mbps for £30 with a £150 gift card.

Start date being September 19th

After several calls to BT the best they could do was £40 to keep my custom.

My issue is not the renewal.

Since last week my once brilliant wifi has struggled to reach 200mbps.

Is this some sort of payback for leaving or just a coincidence that after 2 years of faultless performance it suddenly drops in the days upto my departure?

As WiFi speed is not governed by BT, how could they possibly have lowered it?

Perhaps your much vaunted WiFi6 isn't all it's cracked up to be!

Can I pick your brains Licquorice?

As you probably are sick of hearing I use a EE wifi 6 router with BT broadband.

As Plusnet are the same company will my switch over be seamless with me having nothing to adjust or does he Plusnet white SH2 have to be installed first?

Sorry, no idea. I have never used Plusnet.

I suspect it uses the same PPPoE credentials as BT, but can't confirm that

As stared, how on earth do you think BT can influence your WiFi prefomance after you have left BT , it’s ridiculous, if you are receiving the correct line rate from PN , testing using a wired device, but the WiFi performance is not as good as it was , yet you are using the same router third party router you had when with BT , whatever the issue is , it’s paranoid to think it could be ‘BT’ interfering

Plusnet use actual login credentials based on the username you chose when you sign up. So unless that router has a setting for credentials, you won't be able to use it.

Yes, but with different firmware to accommodate the login credentials. Plusnet has it's own systems that were acquired by BT, rather than just being a rebadged BT product.

You just need to look at the web interface of the EE router & see if it has fields for credentials.

Think I might have wronged BT here. My neighbour who I share a openreach pole with has recently abandoned VM and joined EE.

I'm now thinking this has effected my broadband speed.

It's still fast enough for our needs just not as fast.

if your not on full fttp fibre check the downstream conection speed if suffers from inteference if you want no problems connect everything by eithernet if possible

not enough ports om the router buy a network switch

but will lookat the downstream speed of the router not the speed the device is getting on wifi

if the connection to the router is with in expected speed othey will ignore the speed of any device connected device via wifi

this wont be enough for BT to do anything in regards to leaving them without penalty

@shakey1981 as the OP states he has a 500mb connection he must be on FTTP.Also as he is now with PlusNet all problems should be directed to them, not BT.
