How much are you currently paying?

Would a 900mb fibre package even be worth it for you? There might appear from general advertising, that there’s a push to get people onto much higher speeds than necessary. After all, broadband packages just go up every year anyway and before you know it, you’re paying a ridiculous amount of money for internet speeds you may not even need.

FTTP available - what are my options?

FTTP is now available at my property.

I currently have Fibre 100 and my download speed is 146Mb. My contract is up in June 2026.

MyBT says that I can upgrade to Full Fibre 900 for £1 per month more than I'm currently paying, with a new 24 month contract.

What will I get if I do nothing and see out my contract? Will BT move me to full fibre and limit my speed to what I'm getting currently?

I'd have to agree with @Kimberlin

If you are getting 100+ Mb/s on FTTC it suggests you are on GFast. It may be that they are going to pull the plug on that if FTTP is now available, so you may find it is not availble to renew. (There seems to be the pattern for that).

I'd be careful about 900 Mb/s as Kimberlin says. (I smell another Halo). I've recently upgraded from 68Mb/s FTTC to 150Mb/s FTTP. Speed tests are bang on 150 everytime I test but, operationally, it's made no difference to how fast things work.

If you already have 146Mb you are either already on FTTP already or on Gfast , as far as what will happen at the end of your minimum term ,out of contract normally costs more (often £5 a month ) , you won’t be moved to FTTP without your consent, TBH , assuming you are on Gfast then for £1 more you can triple your speed it seems pretty good considering staying as you are will probably have a price increase after the minimum term expires
