When usually get a problem then the diagnostics do their thing and find the fault. BT thens the engineer to the green cabinet and it gets sorted. The problem we're having at the moment is so intermittent that each time i run the diagnostic, the line comes back and just reports that I've got a good connection. I suspect it's something being done to the line by the engineers on the street but obviously can't prove it....

So Openreach have been working on our street for the past week or so. Looks like they're putting in FTTP and if I check the Openreach site, it confirms they're rolling out FTTP in my area. We've had FTTC (Fibre 2) since we moved in and it's been pretty solid connection - I've obviously been waiting for FTTP for sometime and welcome the work to put it in asap.

Should I just put up with the intermittent issues with a view that I will get FTTP quicker? OR should I log the complaint so I can shake my fist at BT -- even though it won't actually solve anything?

whether you log a complaint or not will not get you FTTP any quicker. The work being done for FTTP should have any affect on your FTTC connection

I was considering what may have happened. if they've accidentally done something to affect my current service then I should log the case. but logging a case might been diverting resources away from the actual FTTP work.

in any case, the intermittent drops seemed to have stopped for now.... hopefully it stay that way

I don't think Openreach working in the green street cabinets has anything to do with installing FTTP capability. This doesn't utilise the street cabinets at all. So the green cabinet work will almost certainly be something to do with the FTTC system and may well be affecting your FTTC service.
Don't get your hopes up about FTTP capability - it seems Openreach have form saying stuff like "we're rolling it out in your area soon" LONG before they actually do anything!

it appears there was an issue this week when they severed the line down the road - big issue for those homes. they've been trying to recover with some emergency splicing.
