Hi there, im just wondering if anyone can help.

The other day i got a onc boc installed and the person didnt connect my bt router so i am stuck without wifi. I have made sure all the cables are in correctly, tried restarting the ont box and factory resetting the hub but no luck.

The power and pon light is on and the lan light was on last night but my hub was flashing purple. Now the hub has no light at all and ive tried factory resetting it. I am desperate for any help and suggestions, thank you.

The ethernet connection on the ONT needs to connect to yellow port 4 on the Smart Hub 2 and you need to go into the hub management and make sure FTTP mode is set to on.

I cant get onto the hub management as its saying something about page failing and sure that’s because im runing on data. I dont have a yellow cable only a red one so is that not ment to go into the red port?

The colour of the plastic is irrelevant. Both yellow and red are exactly the same wiring.

Don't forget, if you factory reset it, it will have gone back to the default password on the card on the back.

The "page failing" is just it warning you that you need to switch to HTTPS. Just click to continue (and accept the "risk" if it mentions that. The risk here is non-existent and it's just being overcautious).

See the following link.

How to set up BT Smart Hub 2 | Broadband Help | BT Help

If your Smarthub does not have a red WAN port use the port number 4. If it still does not work you will have to enter the hubs management pages by clicking on this link in order check and to turn on port 4 if needed.

Home

(If your browser gives you a warning about the web page not being safe just click on the "advance setting" then click proceed)

Once there go to the Advance settings pages by entering the "admin" password found on the hub's label. Once there click on "Broadband" then scroll down to Full Fibre status and ensure that it is showing as "On". If it is not, click on it to change it to On.

Is that the phone or the hub you're talking about?

On the hub the Wi-Fi will have gone back to the default SSID and password on the card on the back when you reset it.

If you don't have Wi-Fi on the phone then you are going to need to connect via Wi-Fi or cable on a laptop.

Is there a light on the hub now? If not, is it plugged in properly and switched on? (There is a switch on the back that it is easy to press by accident)

Once you have some sort of light, the SSID and password for the Wi-Fi will be back to the defaults on the card on the back, when you reset it. You need to enter them in your phone. Then connect to 192.168.1.254, accepting any "warnings" it gives you.

Enter the admin password, also on the card on the back, go to Advanced settings > Broadband and make sure FTTP mode is On.

Well, if you are sure that it's plugged in, the socket is on, and the button is depressed and there are still no lights at all then the implication is that the hub or it's power unit is good old-fashioned broken.

You'll have to phone customer services for a replacement.

(A final factory reset might be worth trying, holding the button in for 30 seconds, but it sounds broken to me).
