Full Fibre - change of entry point

Hi,

I've signed up for full fibre. My existing double socket with phoneline and broadband entry point is on the opposite wall to where i'd like it. Can the engineer change the entry point on the day, or do i need to book a separate appointment to do this? any advice would be much appreciated. thanks

You haven’t supplied enough information to give any real guidance….usually the point at which the cable from outside is changed at a block called a CSP into an internal type cable that enters property can be selected ( within reason ) by the customer, but some requests will be refused, if what is wanted can’t be done safely, and relatively quickly or is just impractical , then it won’t be considered, but reasonable requests are fine

…the existing copper pair infrastructure inside the property to a certain extent is irrelevant, the ONT doesn’t need to be where the existing copper pair master socket is unless that’s what you want …somethings are fixed , like if the house is ducted then where the duct appears is fixed and if overhead the existing bracket the current overhead wire fixes to , will in most cases be reused.

You can’t arrange a pre installation visit , but ultimately if you and the installer can’t agree on the appointment date a way to provide FTTP , you refuse the installation and cancel the order , nothing is done against your will .

I think that might be your biggest problem. A socket will need to be close enough to the ONT to plug it in, about 1.5m or so. You can use an extension lead, however. (The ONT is the new box they will attach to the wall. An Optical Network Terminal).
