The nomenclature for leased lines is the building is allocated a ‘Y Code’ , and is usually served from the nearest fibre node that has a T Code , so on the infrastructure associated with fibre leased lines often these codes are written on the covers , so YSURG (that type of format ) and may also be labelled with the serving T code , so as an example, YSURG-TSNAP No.1 , in that the Y code is served from a leased line node TSNAP , as the building was a surgery it’s highly likely it was a leased line , which will explain why you can’t order FTTP , it’s not the same type of service although both are ‘full fibre’ , they are very different.

Hi, I live in a property that was previously a business, there is FTTP installed here but BT / EE have told me I am unable to use it as they have no record of it existing, is there a work around anyone is aware of?

Presumably there is something existing in the building for you to know there is fibre into this erstwhile business premises, so what does this ‘evidence’ of a fibre installation look like , is it what you would expect to see in a residential (or small business) setting , so something like a CSP or an ONT , or both , or something associated with a ‘leased line’ type of installation….if it were equipment from a leased line , that’s not FTTP in the accepted sense , and of no use if you require domestic grade FTTP provided over a passive optical network (PON) , leased lines are not the same network as regular FTTP , so if it’s leased line equipment you could explore a leased line solution , and that’s not done by calling BT/EE Residential sales , but by contacting a business communications provider that deal in leased lines , they could arrange to ‘light’ the fibre up ,but it’s significantly more expensive than a residential FTTP type service.

I can't attach an image of it, but I have thick fibre optic cable running from undeground, comes through some trunking then along the wall and into a box (assuming for splicing the cable) with BT written on the side, then is trunked into what was the reception of a surgery into another box also with BT written on it, the actual modem was removed in anger by the last person thst occupied the premises prior to it being converted to domestic.

As previously said, it was probably a leased line rather than FTTP.
