If the CBT at the top of the telegraph pole has been commissioned, so is ready for service , then usually the addresses allocated to that CBT should show availability quite soon after , but just the placement of the CBT on its own , although a positive sign doesn’t really indicate much , the CBT cable tail is factory fitted at the CBT end , the ‘splicing’ takes place at the splitter node or an intermediate joint (that joint then spliced at the splitter node) so just the CBT appearing doesn’t mean it’s spliced at the splitter and ready to go , so how do you know it’s spliced and tested ( perhaps asked the tech fitting it ? )

If it’s been weeks since the CBT was fitted and your address still shows no availability that suggests the CBT is not ‘ready to go’ , on the off chance that your individual address is the problem, have you looked at your near neighbours addresses to see if they could order , if they can and you can’t that suggests there is a ‘data’ issue with your address.

I've just posted this and it seems to have disappeared into oblivion, so I'll try again. Apologies if it appears twice.

There is also a significant lead time between Openreach (OR) saying it is ready for service and you being able to place an order. When they did here, OR emailed me and said it was ready, as I had an expression of interest registered. It then took a further week before it was available to order on BT's site and more like two months before it was available on Sky's. (The regulars on Sky's forum tell me that is about normal for Sky).

Different competing ISP’s showing different availability for addresses where the Openreach kit has been provided and is available for ISP’s to use is normal, not every ISP use the same ‘cable link’ to connect the Openreach equipment into their own network ( or the wholesalers network that the ISP uses ) , so if for example BT/EE show on their own sites availability before Sky (for example) show availability on theirs , then it’s because a BTw ‘cable link’ is available to carry traffic into BT/EE when the cablelink Sky intend to use is still to be provided or an existing one is at capacity and further capacity needs to be added …it’s not always BT that are available first , in fact that would against the rules ordering cable links are provided on an equivalent basis, no favouritism allowed ,but if BTw are ready first that’s because their order was made first , and I know personally of one address from a few years ago where Talk Talk were available quite some time before BT and other ISP’s , presumably because TT were ready with their cable links before anyone else .
