Full fibre optic installed today

Hi.

We had full fibre optic into the house today, but we are still getting the same speeds as before 70mbps.

The engineer told my wife not to turn router off for 10 days or an engineer would have to come back out and reset/restart

When I got home from work the router was off.

Do you think this is why we are still getting our previous speeds?

For clarity, are BT your provider ?
If you had F2 (80Mb) and were getting 70Mb or more , then the same F2 service on FTTP would show no noticeable improvement, did you also upgrade you package ( buy a faster speed ) when taking FTTP or just moved from FTTC to FTTP .
The 10 days , and don’t turn the router off or an engineer visit will be needed is absolute nonsense.

Did you change/upgrade your broadband package or was this just an FTTP upgrade but no other changes?

With full fibre there is no waiting period so you can switch off/ on when you want. There is no waiting time as should get full speed immediately

No we haven't upgraded.

We were just offered the free upgrade to full fibre into house free of charge. In the email it said we would get speeds of up to 900mbps. No mention of having to upgrade.

If you just got a free upgrade to FTTP then your speed will remain the same as yours existing package but probably at max for your package. If you want 900mb then your need to upgrade your package and new contract

In a week or so you'll get an email from BT to upgrade to a faster package for your same current price. Be aware it restarts your 24 month contract. If you don't want to wait then log into my BT and then broadband then click on see my offers.
