OR says Fibre available however BT doesnt

Hi all, recently the village had fibre installed. My street and my address are showing as FTTP built, however no provider inc BT are showing it for me to upgrade.

I suspect its because we are over a railway bridge.

This is what the BT wholesale checker says....any advice on how to get fibre at all please??

My service is so poor, my and other half work from home and cant take teams calls. Tv drops all the time due to the need for everything to be down in copper line, which doesn't support for wifi tv.

what you have posts shows that FTTP is available to that address but there is a waiting list suggesting all available connections are in use by other cusromers

It also shows that if you have FTTC you should have a connection speed 80/63mb so are you on FTTC?

Yes we get FTTC, but we want FTTP, as the FTTC is not fast enough, and drops etc. You would think 80 would be fast enough just for a teams call, but it isnt. We already had an engineer out once, says there are no issues.

if I go on any of the providers BT/Sky etc, it says FTTP isn't available at my property. The FTTP network just got built, the initially did an OH cable across the railway bridge, which was removed a few weeks later, and I think that has more to do with it than availability.

That's odd. 80 Mbps should be way more than adequate for Teams calls as I get by fine with less than half that speed on FTTC (varies from c20-35 Mbps), and was using Teams daily during the pandemic without any issues at all. Sounds more like a line quality issue rather than a speed issue to me.

EDIT: I see that Microsoft state that 10–25 Mbps is recommended for best results if doing screen sharing or large meetings. That's obviously if nothing else is using the bandwidth as well. Although I've done Teams calls with family and friends whilst watching TV streamed in HD at the same time on my 20-35 Mbps connection with no problems.

Your DSL checker return is missing some pertinent info , namely the FTTP install process , KCI2 or single stage , and the survey network note (SNN) , a property in the same postcode with an active ONT (so has FTTP installed) has a network info of , Single Dwelling Unit Residential OH Feed potential Line of sight,

what’s the missing info for your address ?

As stated , the partial the return you have provided shows ‘waiting list’ , this is why ISP say no availability , but ‘waiting list’ is quite unusual in an FTTP area , as the local network is normally dimensioned on a ‘one connection per dwelling’ basis , so (as an example) if a pole had 12 possible addresses assigned to it , a 12 port CBT provided, so each address even with 100% takeup can be served without exceeding network capacity , the only way this can normally be an issue is if one address gets 2 separate services installed then you effectively have a potential demand of 13 from 12 ‘outlets’ and everyone has ordered service , in the early take up period this shouldn’t ever really ever occur ,and even in the long term really shouldn’t be an issue …so it’s possible the waiting list ‘tag’ has been used for an easy way to disqualify some addresses from ordering FTTP .

Its just speculation , but it’s possible your address was spotted as an easy additional address to be added to a build so was (in retrospect a bad decision) , added to the build program , an optical dropwire put up over a railway bridge (and the railway line the bridge crosses) linking two poles together that shouldn’t really be linked ( there are lots of rules around overhead service, especially near railways) …..perhaps the new optical cable was taken back down when it were realised that it was contravening the rules regarding railway crossings, but because the addresses were already allocated to this now removed optical connection, the easiest way to stop orders being raised only to be cancelled later ,was to say the network was already at capacity and show ‘waiting list’ while other methods are explored to avoid an overhead cable across a railway line , especially an electrified railway line as the rules get even more complicated when near overhead power.

Here's the full address, there are only 5 houses on my road. 3 before the railway bridge, 2 after.

That’s really odd, a Waiting List for FTTP. I’ve never seen that before.

When Openreach have built PON’s before they’ve always built Capacity for each property on that PON, plus an additional 3 on the off chance someone builds a house, converts a house into two, etc.

Might be worth contacting Openreach via their Web Site to see if they have plans to do a Incremental Build to provide enough Capacity.
