If you have the EE Smart Hub Plus on your BT Broadband, you can use the MyBT App, go into Broadband Plan Details and select Hub Manager. There you can set your Hub as a Smart Hub 3 which is technically similar and get to some settings.

Richard

Have you set up an EEID which is needed in order to use the EE app.

I could be wrong but I suspect however that if you have not done it yet you will most likely need an EE broadband or mobile account number in order to access it fully.

If you were not given an account number you will need to contact BT Billing 0330.1234.150 and explain the problem to them. It may be that you will have to exchange your EE hub for a BT hub.

They are only being given to new BT Broadband customers.

There are apparently Smarthub 3 for sale on eBay. It would be up to you whether or not you buy one keeping in mind that should it go faulty or turns out to be a rip off BT will not help or replace it. They know what type of BT hub they issued to you when you took out your broadband package. They will expect it back if you leave BT so do not dispose of the one you were given.

BT as you are now aware, aren't obliged to assist you with it in any way as you're intending to use it effectively as a third party router even though BT and EE are one and the same company. Boils down ultimately to the fact that the router wasn't provided by them.

SH2 which I have 2 of DO NOT give 900 mbps at the user interface, it only gets to 900 mbps at the router which meets the contract. SH3 will give 900mbps at the user interface if I had one. Wifi 6 isn't really an issue, but I do believe that some of the commenters on here have no practical experience to give, just summising what someone else's friends mother has been led to believe by the vicar

I use a 3rd party router with its own App. I haven’t used a ISP router for years. I’d certainly never purchase a grey market ISP router that my ISP wouldn’t support anyway, but that’s a choice people make. Much in the same way I fully realise my ISP won’t support me with my own third party router.

You made that quite clear.

What I’m saying is, you’ve undoubtedly made a poor choice buying a grey market ISP router from where exactly?

You aren’t going to get a SH3 by pleading down the phone to BT, unless of course they take pity on you but that’s unlikely.

Anyway, I think we’re done here. Best of luck.

Nobody here or anywhere else can help you make the EE app, which requires an EE account to work in order to manage the EE hub, when you are a BT Broadband customer and not an EE customer. It makes no odds that you are connected to a BT modem.

It has already been explained that you will need an EE account number in order to use the app to manage the EE hub so your question has been answered and as this thread is now going round in circles I will ask the moderators to lock it.
