We've started to experiment ce some annoying wifi drop outs - we have an EE backup kit installed so it does recover after about 20 mins so we aren't totally without wifi luckily. Openreach say there its nothing wrong with our full fibre and we've been sent a new Hub2 ( what a faff setting everything upon again!) today after just 4 dates we had a drop out again. no general outages reported locally that we can see - an y ideas?

when you received new SH2 you should have just changed the new hub SSID and wifi to that of old hub and devices would have connected automatically but good to know for future reference

are the hub lights remaining blue so you are not dropping internet connection just the wifi from hub to device? Have you tried changing the wifi channels from smart to a fixed channel and using a wifi analyser to see channels in use near you and selecting a free channel

What imjolly says is very good advise.

Something else to consider, though. Is the hub low down? Wireless goes through things but only up to a point. If something moves into the way that can turn a strong signal into a weak one. Better to have it positioned high up.

Internet connectivity to your devices consists of 3 links in a chain. The fibre to the ONT, the Ethernet cable from the ONT to the Hub and Wifi from the Hub to your device.

The first step is to determine which link is failing.

You mention that the Hybrid Connect device kicks in which narrows the problem down to the first 2 links. You now need to narrow it down further by observing the colour of the lights on both the hub and ONT when the problem occurs.

The OP states they have full fibre , if that’s the case then checking the ONT during these periods is necessary to try to determine if it’s an Openreach issue affecting BT or just a BT one , although they also say Openreach say the network is fine (although how the were told that isn’t mentioned) .

FWIW , my SH2 on FTTC has started dropping out and restarting probably around every two days , no specific time of day , it just drops and comes back up randomly, it’s a pain but not sufficiently so to call and complain about it .

My money is on the ONT to Hub cable. If it was the hub restarting the Hybrid Connect wouldn't be able to kick in.

Or a poor splice causing the light level to the ONT being on the cliff edge.
