Need Help, PLEASE,

Bit of a long one this. I had Full Fibre installed back in August, well pleased. Our estate management are going to install new front doors and frames that are fire proof and us tenants have been told that we can't have the fibre optic cables anymore as they are drilled through a hole (1mm) drilled in the door frame and that breaches the fire regulations. I checked with the London Fire Brigade and that is the new regulation !

My question can I get the connection restored to the old system and get internet as I used to do, that's to say when FF is fitted do they destroy the old phone line connection ?

Also is there a way of talking to the installation department in person ?

Mega grateful for any help.

Thanks in advance Mark

Are BT your provider ?, is this an apartment/flat in a MDU , or a regular SDU (single dwelling unit )
Openreach doesn’t generally put cables through door or window frames , that hasn’t been acceptable practice for quite some time , certainly before FTTP came along , so (assuming this is OR FTTP ) why did they go through a door frame ?.
FWIW , although it’s not good practice, the fire brigade won’t be interested in that cable going through a door frame provided fire stopping in the hole is used , in that respect a hole in the wall for the cable is no different to the door frame , the reason for not going through door or window frames is what you are demonstrating now , it causes issues if the door or window is to be replaced (nothing really to do with the fire brigade , this is just a practical problem )
Assuming it’s BT , you need to arrange for a FTTP re- installation (called an ONT shift ) the new cabling going in to the building in the more usual way, through the wall , this avoids the door frame ( you pay for this work ) , you won’t be able to go back to the copper pair service once FTTP is available.

If you are a Tennant , especially if it’s the local authority or similar that is the landlord , they should be footing the bill for any incidental work, if it’s their decision to replace the door

So the Building Owner just plans on cutting/removing the Fibre Cable without consulting Openreach to come up with an Alternative?

Call and state you need your ONT relocated, although to be completely accurate the ONT probably doesn’t need relocation it’s the the cabling up-to it from outside the house or flat that does ( that may cause confusion, its easier to say ONT re location ) …..expect a bill of around £130

That would be a monumental waste of time and money.

For an ONT Shift they’ll send out a SO Engineer, maybe DL, maybe a Contractor.

Sub will explain to them they don’t need the ONT Moving but the Internal Invisilte Cable to the POE’s.

Said SO Engineer will then just put notes on their MyJobs App, or in the case of a Contractor whatever system they use, it’ll get closed down and go nowhere.

If the MA is not planning on consulting Openreach that they need the Internal Cabling altering and instead just cut it off then it’ll ultimately end up going to SO as a Fault, who in turn will then send it to the MDU Build Team to fix/replace the Cable.
