Just so I can be sure I'm correct in what's happening here, do you have a separate VoIP provider that you're using with this phone and your Huawei Router?

Digital Voice is only available via our fixed home routers, so as @Anonymous mentioned this is more than likely linked to the 4G router not having compatibility for VoLTE.

BT Elements 1k and 4g?

I’ve been using my BT Elements for years in a HUAWEI router, with a mobile sim.

ive been getting emails recently about the turn off of 3G.

the router is 4g and 5g compatible, but when I turn off 3G and reboot everything I get no dial tone, and incoming calls fail.

can anyone confirm whether the Elements DECT is 4g compatible (and I just have settings wrong somewhere), or do I need to buy a new phone?

thanks!

The phone is just a dumb device connected to the router's ATA. Your issue will be that either the router or SIM don't support VoLTE.

No need for a VoIP provider…

it’s a router with an EE mobile SIM card, so calls are made and received over the EE mobile network as standard mobile calls (and the router then provides WiFi internet over the EE data network).

The BT Elements has been working fine with the 3G network, but so far I haven’t been able to get it to work with 4g

Cheers @nikimilligan.

In that case it's definitely sounding like a compatibility issue with the router rather than the handset.

I can't say with absolute certainty on the specs of the router, but these are primarily designed for internet access rather than making calls like a dedicated mobile, so the calling features are less likely to be as extensive.
