Unable to access websites for bars/vineyards etc

I have BT mobile, am the account owner and have 5 sims for the family.

there are no children under 18, and as far as I am aware, have never set any parental controls on either my broadband account or my sims.

i am becoming increasingly frustrated I that if I am looking for info on bars etc, I get blocked by BT. I have checked my broadband and mobile settings, and neither have any filtering set up.

No one else in the family seems to be having this problem. Would love to know how to fix this annoying issue

You might need to describe exactly what you are seeing! Recently legislation came into force in the UK that requires age verification before anyone can progress onto certain sites. However it's not been managed well, so there are plenty of sites that seem to require verification for even quite innocuous things.

Oh and Cloudflare seems to be having regular issues too!

On safari i get “the browser could not open the page as it could not establish a secure connection to the server”

On google i get “this page is not available” and if i happen to drop the s from the https on either browser I get redirected to a bt.blockpage.

An example site in question is sandeman.com

Hi @crush123

It sounds like your parental controls may be restricting you from accessing those sites, I'd recommend adjusting them.

These are the three predefined filter levels on BT Parental Controls (Light, Moderate and Strict). You can customise your filters to suit your needs.

Log in to My BT with your BT ID
Scroll down to and click on the Manage your extras button, followed by clicking on Manage BT Parental Controls
Select 'Manage Settings' under BT Parental Controls and choose the Change filter levels tab
You can select from the three pre-defined filter levels - 'Strict', 'Moderate' and 'Light'. Just move the slider to the filter level you want and select Save changes. You'll see a list of what categories will be blocked by that filter setting
You can then customise this filter level even further by moving the slider to Custom. Just select or de-select any blocking category you want to change
To make the changes, click Save Changes at the bottom of the section
Your new filter level will be active within 10 minutes

Thanks Chris, but as I said in my initial post, there are no parental controls in place.

i checked the settings you outlined, and i can confirm this is the case

Thank you for trying that @crush123

I know you mentioned that you've never set any restrictions; however, due to the Online Safety Act, which came into force on the 25th July, we are required to restrict certain sites until your age is verified, so adjusting your parental controls may have solved the issue.

Could I just confirm, are you having issues with various different sites, or is the issue just affecting one specific website?
