SIM suddenly dying on you is brutal, especially when the only “support” route they push is a phone line you literally can’t call. You’ve already done the basic stuff (restarts, airplane toggle), so ordering a replacement SIM was pretty much the only move left if BT won’t give you a clear online contact path.

SIM not working

My SIM1 stopped working. I have tried the solutions. Off/on, toggle airplane mode. I cannot make/receive calls

So I look at My BT to make contact only to find they offer phone numbers that I can't ring. No email help option that I can find through their clunky website.

The best I can do is order a new SIM and post on this page to say hey BT, please make email contact with me, your customer!

You need an email / chat box option. I cannot phone until I have access to another phone as my SIM is not working!

"You need an email / chat box option"

As has been explained, you are not talking to BT - just to fellow customers, so they can't make this happen.
I do agree though that BT should enable customers to email them, but I'm afraid they prefer customers to call them so they can be upsold services by their on-commission agents.
There is (sometimes) a chat function and I have used it successfully to chivy up my migration to DV. But it appears to only show up randomly when accessing BT's website. I've no idea why this should be but, as you say, the website is clunky.
