So I made the move to no Ethernet cable and Wi-Fi connection instead , and also moved over to internet mode for freeview.

For some reason everything seems a little sharper, a bit snappier and overall better. I would have thought doing this would go the opposite way.
Glad to get rid of some wires too!

Hi does anyone use their bt pro boxes without aerial and Ethernet cables? I’m trying to reduce wire clutter behind my TV.

If so which freeview channels would you lose with no aerial using internet channels only , and how does the box perform with no Ethernet connection, any lag/take away a lot bandwidth from other devices in the home?

I have used the BT TV Pro box occasionally via WiFi only and it was OK for me, no obvious lag or issues with other devices.

For us, the Smart Hub 2 is in the lounge, but sometimes I would set the box up in the main bedroom directly above to watch something or do some testing/updating, so that is when I used WiFi. When it is in the lounge I use ethernet.

Freeview IP channels that you receive are the same as using wired: https://www.bt.com/help/tv/guide/ip-freeview-guide

The obvious omissions to the aerial delivered channel listings for me are the shopping channels, Talking Pictures, "Thats" channels, "Great!" channels, Drama, Yesterday, W and Dave. You can catch up on the last four via UKTV Play though.

Whether these are a big miss for you is personal choice and probably also depends on how good your aerial is and what you could pick up when using one.
