Is there a search facility lurking somewhere in the app?

Not yet, but coming very soon - hopefully it'll be in the Android beta in the next few weeks.

One workaround is to use the search facility in the BT TV app.

Useful for live thanks but no good for on demand, as mobile pass holders can't log into BT TV to watch. I guess it at least tells you if there's something available, but you then have to wade through the mobile app categories to find it.
