Watching BT sport on bt.com/sport/watch

I used to happily watch BT sport problem-free on the app on my Windows 10 laptop. Now the app is no longer supported, the only option not involving additional cost is bt.com/sport/watch. The problem is that even with a freshly-downloaded Microsoft Edge browser the feed is jerky and buffers. I'm aware that this was a problem in the past: it's the reason why BT advised me to download the app, but I thought they might have improved the quality of the stream by now.

Anybody else have this problem?

Any suggestions for how to get a smooth feed on the website?
