BT Sport Ultimate on Android TV

Hello,

Will we get BT Ultimate 4k working with android TV (Google TV) anytime soon ?

Also, is Amazon Fire Stick 4K Max works with BT Ultimate 4K ? Because I might get one if Google Tv is not supported

It's looking unlikely that BT Sport Ultimate 4K will ever come back on the "Chromecast with Google TV". It just doesn't have the power.

I can confirm that the Amazon Fire Stick 4K Max does support the full BT Sport Ultimate 4K HDR including Atmos.

I'm experiencing very poor quality this year vs last year. Constantly jumping around and juddering

@DarrenDevhas something changed in the settings as much worse than last season!! Constantly jittering. I've purchased a wired connection for the chromecast with Google tv and no improvement.

I can confirm the recent lagging and stumbling on BT Ultimate. I have a Fire Stick 4K and a good internet connection, 4K used to work great but not during this Champions League.

@alien43 are you saying you're seeing issues on a Fire Stick? This thread is specifically about Google TV devices where it's known that they're not able to keep up.

There haven't been any changes I'm aware of that would have changed the performance on Google TV, unless Google have released another firmware update?

I can't do anything today, but I'll push out a config update on Tuesday that will automatically lower the quality if the device can't keep up - better to have smooth video at lower quality than jumpy video.

It's worth trying a reboot of your device too though - this will ensure it is running to its best potential.

can you please confirm it there’s no issues on Amazon Fire Sticks or Cube ?
Im going tomorrow to buy a new one instead of Google TV but I want to make sure that I won’t have the same issues again.

There are no known issues with video performance on Fire Stick.

Yes, I have both an Android TV and a Fire TV Stick 4K, experiencing issues with Ultimate on both.

I'll be trying more (I don't normally watch league games on BT but I'll try).

it looks like BT can’t work on any streaming device except their own stb

We don't normally have any issues on Fire Stick devices, and the device is definitely powerful enough to play BT Sport at full 4k HDR. I'll check if we have any regression issues when I'm home next week, but I would definitely recommend the Fire Stick 4k to get the best experience on BT Sport.

I've now purchased a fire stick 4k max and just tried it. Better than chromecast but still juggering.

Really really frustrating!!!!! Please help resolve.

Try going into settings on the Firestick. Select "Display and Audio". Select "Display". Make sure "Match Original Frame Rate" is on. And "Video Resolution" is set to Automatic. See if that helps.

It looks like Google have pulled an absolute blinder with the update to Android 12! I updated my device this morning, and it's currently playing the full 4k HDR Atmos test stream flawlessly!

I'm removing the quality limit today, but will leave the "trackdown" feature enabled - this will cause the quality to automatically drop if the device drops too many frames. The result will be that devices that haven't updated will see a slightly poorer experience for the first 10-20 seconds before settling on what they had before, whilst devices that have updated will see the best performance straight away.
