Hi,

I have BT TV Essentials, BT Sport Pack and the HD Extra pack but I only ever watch sport through the BT Sport App on my tablet. I never use BT TV or watch sport on the Youtube Box. If I cancelled the above packages I know that I wont be able to view sport via the you tube box but as a BT broadband customer will I still have access to the BT Sport App?

No - BT Sport hasn't been included for free with BT Broadband for many years. If you cancel your BT TV subscription, you'll need to pay for a BT Sport subscription instead.

When I signed up (many, many years ago) I had to get BT TV Essentials and then add BT Sport (it was free then) and paid for the HD option. Can I cancell the Essentials package and the HD option without loosing BT Sport which I will watch on the App?

BT TV Essentials is an older package. Under the new structure, you can switch to the dedicated "BT Sport" package, but then you'd still need to add the HD option on top if you want HD access on your set top box. If you only want to watch in the app then you wouldn't need the HD add-on.
Your best option would be to give us a call to talk through your options - it may prove cheaper to remain on what you have already.

I am currently paying

so want to reduce cost by ditching Essential and HD Extra

Ah OK - in which case, switching to the current "BT TV - Sport" pack on TV should only cost you £16 a month.
