there's a change to your TNT Sports Pack price

I received an email today to my registered email from BT with the above subject.

"Hi **my full name**, the promotion on your TNT Sports Pack App add-on has come to an end, so we’re updating your price.

You’ll pay £15 a month rather than our standard price of £25 a month, a price only available to our valued existing customers.

That’s £10.99 less than buying TNT Sports direct through HBO Max.

Your TNT Sports Pack price will increase to
£15 a month
from 16 October 2026. 30-day rolling contract"

It might be a saving on the standard price but its £15 a month more than I pay at present as for many many years its come as part of my BT Broadband package. I have very rarely used it, about once a year. Do I have to actively cancel something ?

If you don't watch the TNT sports add on then as not in contract from October then phone CS 03301234150 and cancel TNT sports

Thanks to imjolly as the answer was to 'phone them and in brief I was going to be charged £15/month for something that had just evolved over many years, starting I think when I first got BT Broadband BT Sport was included, and I had rarely used.

The long saga for anyone else in my situation is...

I received this email

I phoned them on 03301234150 and immediately it answered the announcement said if you are 'phoning about the recent email about changes to TNT Sports Pack price go online to manage your package. I did this but when I tried to manage my subscription got this

So I called again, no option about this matter so I chose billing and got to speak to a person and explained the email and the future charge and I wanted to cancel. After a lot of misunderstanding including her telling me they hadn't sent the email so it was a scam she put me through to loyalty who after a lot of marketing type questions about the service agreed to cancel the TNT Sports Pack.

Fingers crossed.

I had the same email today.

Our situation is different, in that we do watch TNT Sports. It's been included with our broadband for years, ever since it was BT Sport, moved to Discovery+, became TNT Sports and then moved to HBO Max. I have never been told that it was included at a "promotional price".

So now to be stung with £15 a month is just the last straw of many for me. BT have already confirmed that I am not eligible for new broadband customer pricing ... far from it ... their best upgrade offer was for more than I'm currently paying.

I might call 150 tomorrow and express my disappointment (that's somewhat understating it), but I think it's time to say "bye-bye BT".

BT Sport was included for free with BT Broadband when it first launched, and later became free only for BT TV subscribers. It stopped being free 9 years ago, but remained free all that time for anyone who didn't make any changes to their contract.

This is now changing, but you're still being offered a big discount on the regular price.

@DarrenDev - yes, I realise that £15 is a discounted price, but I have also to allow for BT's broadband price being way higher than I can get elsewhere. With this £15 increase, my bill for broadband + Sports will be £88 per month.

I can easily get full fibre broadband with another provider for about £25, and pay separately for TNT Sports at £25. That saves me £35 pm.

BT just seem to be uninterested in retaining my business.

I got the same message and hoped it was a scam. It sounds like it isn't so its time to make radical changes to my contract. I am definitely not paying for TNT Sport as it is very much the poor relation of Sky and not worth £5 never mind £15 a month. I am going to ditch BTs landline as it is only being kept for sentimental reasons. Lastly I'm on the hunt for a new Broadband contract. BT may gain a few quid adding new charges between bills (I have just had mine with no mention of this charge) but in the long run they are going to lose a lot of my money.

I received this email yesterday. I contacted BT. I was told by both the Messaging Service and by phone that BY did not send this email and there have been no changes.

@docdunning , £88 (or £73 if you remove the £15 you now have to pay to keep the erstwhile free TNT sport ) for basic broadband isn’t a price that’s recognisable , so if you are paying anywhere near that just for broadband (allowing for the fact you were getting ‘free’ sports ) , you are clearly not paying anything like a price you could easily obtain from BT for broadband only , by renewing , so the maths you employ is dubious at best .

What happens regularly on here is someone will complain that a competitor can offer the same broadband for a fraction of the price but when asked the actual details the savings are nothing like what was originally stated , as the poster neglects to mention the calling plan , the whole home WiFi , the 4G backup etc .

BT charge around £26 for 150Mb upto around £32 for 900Mb , and although these are new customer prices , renegotiating gets pretty close to, obviously you would realistically need to factor in paying £25 not £15 for TNT if you change your contract terms .

Thanks for the reply.

In the interests of fairness, and to clarify, then - I am on Fibre Halo3+ broadband. It's £71.41 per month. I then pay £2.61 per month for payg landline. So actually £74.02 all-up, but TNT Sports is included for free.

If I then add the £15 for TNT Sports, it's £89.02, which is not a good price these days.

I'm genuinely going to leave if BT will not negotiate, so I'll see what they say.

I'm not convinced that this is a phishing email.

It's headed up with the last four digits of my account number, and then my email (poorly obfuscated with alternating * characters). I can't imagine how a phisher would know my account number, unless BT have suffered a hack.

The one odd thing about it is that the links in the email are to a domain intelli-direct.com, which I don't recognise. I've not clicked any of them.

Personally I’d take the opportunity to remove Halo3+ unless you do benefit from it , the savings from dropping that likely will more than offset the fact that in your case you now need to pay for TNT sport .
As stated , TNT Sport hasn’t been free for years , but by staying on an out of date legacy broadband package (and paying a premium for doing so ) the benefit was free TNT ….if you had , at some point in the previous years decided the broadband price was uncompetitive , to get it competitive would have required paying for TNT, it was one or the other .
You may still get a cheaper deal with someone else (on the broadband price) but the saving is likely to be relatively small unless you have access to an Alt Net that basically sell below cost to get customers on board.

If by chance you can keep the £15 TNT price and also negotiate a competitive broadband price similar to the new customer prices, that would be remarkably good outcome

@docdunning the fact that you were still getting Sport for free means you're on a very old contract price. I've just checked, and you could reduce your monthly bill by taking our current Sport package.

3 Was given TNT with original contract

4 the price you pay has no relevance for broadband or any other service

5 they are now trying to change your contract does this mean you can leave.

6 As far as TNT they are not entitled to your information as you are with BT under GDPR

7 having paid Nothing for this time i would see it change of contract note with BT

Why the whole blurb? It's a free extra which can be cancelled without charges if not wanted
