I am paying over £70 for my broadband a month , I was offered broadband and full tv package from another supplier for less, my husband is no longer working and I am part time so it is a huge saving . I contacted bt today to cancel and they are saying I have to pay over £400 to cancel as I am in contract to March next year . We also have Bt Business where I work and I recently received the letters Fr the renewal and did the renewal at work , but I never received any letters or emails about my own renewal date , I never agreed to any renewal or price change, it’s only when I checked my bills today that I realised that I have been paying more since March . If I didn’t agree to the renewal do I still have to pay this huge amount ?

As most BT contracts are 24 months it is more likely you agreed a new contract in march 2021 and the increase in cost to which you refer is the annual increase of CPI+3.9%

You should have an email confirming your changes last year as that is standard practice and doing nothing on receipt is taken as your agreement.

To leave mid contract you need to pay cancellation charge based on remainder of contract
