Do I need an active phone line to be offered super fast broadband?

Hi,

I have just moved into a flat block and my neighbours can get super fast broadband but I can't. Openreach have told me that there is currently no capacity in the cabinet so I am unable to get super fast broadband via FTTC. From what I have researched an active phone line is required for FTTC, so If I were to get ADSL broadband with a phone line could I be offered super fast broadband? I am currently using a 4G sim in a router to get home broadband.

Has anyone had a similar experience to me or can offer their opinion?

If the cabinet is full, you will be unable to get Superfast VDSL (FTTC) broadband.

Do you think it would show not available if there is no active phone line? Or would it show if I had an active phone line still?

Unfortunately the cabinet is full. All you can do is keep checking and when (if) the 'Waiting List' cahnges to 'Available' get an order in quickly before somebody else snaps up the port that has just become spare.

Totally irrelevant, the cabinet is full.

Got ya, I was hoping there would be a chance. Kind of frustrating considering the flat block is less than 10 years old. Cheers for the help!

If BT are still selling it at your location (they have stopped in many locations), ADSL2 at 11M (possibly more as the checker is usually very conservative with estimates) is available to you if you don't have a pressing need for high speeds.

Yeah I do unfortunately, I have a few devices and WFH so would like something in the 30s at least
