Price rise from 31st March 2023

I received an email four days ago saying that my broadband and landline package is going up by £10.58.

My latest contract ends in April 2024 but is there a thing where if you have been informed of a price change you have the next 30 days to cancel or downgrade your package.

Would like advice please on whether I can cancel or downgrade now or should I wait until my contract is coming to the end.

No, the increases are part of the terms you accepted in 2022, you won't enter the recontracting window until the last 6 months of the term, even then a downgrade might not be an option until your last 30 days or when the minimum term ends.

You have no right to leave or change your package due to the price rise because you were informed that an annual price rise would happen when you first signed up to your contract as per the Terms & Conditions which you agreed to.

We have just found out that our BT bill is going up by £10+!!

As an 84 year old pensioner couple this is a HUGE shock (on top of also having to buy a BBC TV license again now) as we thought we had a CONTRACT with BT, but apparently not, it's a one way contract in favour of BT.

If we want to "BEAK THE CONTRACT (as BT are doing) we'll be penalised.

Obviously, hidden somewhere in the small print there is something hidden that allows BT to do this?

TV is rapidly becoming out of our reach as food and heating is more important!

as posted previously you agreed a new contract which include annual rise of CPI + 3.9%. this was not hidden and has been in the press for months about companies not just BT who have inbuilt rises each of same or similar

maybe you qualify here and could reduce your costs

It never fails to amaze me the number of people who enter into legal contract without reading it and later go onto complain about "the small print". If they are aware of "small print" as they put it why on earth did they not check for it and read it before agreeing to it!

Oh "I never make a mistake"! Lets see how you cope with all this stuff at 843!!

I cancelled my BT Sports last year because I could no longer afford it, now it looks like all TV is going to have to go unless I can negotiate.

I never said I never make a mistakes but I do take responsability for my mistakes when I make one rather than trying to blame either my age, which is not far off yours, or blame the company for my shortcomings!

Hi Everyone,

Each year BT increase the price of services by CPI rate of inflation plus 3.9%. This is made clear when going through the order process and again in the order confirmation correspondence that is emailed or posted after the order is placed. You can find out more on the following link.
