Cancel a contract for relative with Dementia

Hi, My mother has Dementia and has unfortunately gone into a care home. How can we cancel her home land line and broadband account? We have Power of Attorney and we have called the 0800 800150 as instructed but the advisor was not helpful at all and actually did not know the procedure?
