My 80 year old mum signed up for an 18 month contract autumn last year for BT Fibre & Phone, my dad (her husband) unexpectedly sadly passed away only a month later. She could only really afford the £55 a month because there were 2 pensions and they just stuck with what they knew. I am on benefits so I can't help her much as I only just get by myself. If I send in a death certificate as proof do BT allow contract come-outs due to that ? She is now about 5 months in to the contract and couldn't afford a buy out. I believe the contract is in her name. Thanks for any advice.

Hi @Spectron, sorry for the loss of your father and I can understand your mum's position.

Does she now get a Pension Credit as BT Home Essentials Broadband | Universal Credit Broadband maybe be more suitable if she is eligible. There are no contract charges for moving to these packages if the account holder is eligible.

Thanks

John
