Elderly father mis-sold/debt passed to Advantis

Hello

My elderly, disabled father has recently received a letter from Advantis saying they are collecting a debt he owes BT.

He called BT who confirmed there’s nothing owing and he should ignore the letter.

However, I’m concerned this might relate to a sim deal my father was mis-sold by BT.

He has never had a mobile and doesn’t understand how sims etc work (the deal was for 4/5G which wasn’t even available in his area). Once he realised the package wasn’t needed he cancelled it.

He has not received any letters from BT notifying him that he owes any money in relation to the sim or otherwise, so the Advantis letter came out of the blue and caused considerable distress.

How can I check if the Advantis letter is genuine/speak to someone about resolving this?

My father really doesn’t understand these issues with the sim deal so it is up to me to sort this out.
