Fibre 1 vs Fibre 2 confusion

After helping a friend with a wifi issue at their house I found that they have Fibre 1 and receive speeds of about 55mbps download and 14 mbps upload.

I am on Fibre 2 and get 35mbps download and 4 mbps upload. The issue is that I am paying £10 a month more than my friend.

I understand that the distance to the exchange determines the speeds you receive but I’m confused why I am paying more for less, esp as I am on “faster” product.

Fibre 1 is artificially capped at 55M, fibre 2 is capped at 80M.

In both cases you receive the speed your line is capable of up to any artificial cap.

If your line is incapable of receiving a speed higher than 55M, fibre2 won't be any faster than fibre1 and no point in having it.

With a noise margin of 3.2dB, you are getting the absolute maximum speed your line is capable of
