The first thing you need to do is raise a dispute with either Equifax or Experian, depending on who the debt is with. You can do that at

Online at www.equifax.co.uk/ask

Call 0800 014 2955

Address – Equifax Ltd

Customer Service Centre

PO Box 10036

Leicester

LE3 4FS

or

Online at www.experian.co.uk

Call 0344 481 8000

Address - Experian Headquarters Talbot House

Talbot Street

Nottingham

N80 1TH

They'll then liaise with BT for you.

Credit score default

I am a previous BT customer for BT sports I had cancelled this in may time 2020, I have had a mark against my credit score saying I didn’t pay the outstanding amount, however this was cleared at the time I phone up to check and a Colleague put on notes there was no outstanding debt to be paid as she had checked all history and account was cancelled and everything had been paid off. So I shouldn’t have been impacted, can you please get back to me urgently with a resolution as this is having a massive impact on my financial status. I need you to get this updated on my credit score and removed urgently, thanks.

You should raise this via the credit agency providing the report. They can approach BT on your behalf to dispute it, and correct things if they’re wrong.
