I have broadband decided to add BT TV so whole new contract Inc broadband. TV was useless so cancelled. Now want to cancel broadband. All within 14 days. Was told yes I could but I would revert to my old broadband contract. Is this correct they can resurrect the old contract when I cancel the new one. I was not at the end of my broadband contract.

You may get a possible answer from another forum member, but the only way you will get contractual confirmation would be from BT, or one of the moderators who may post advice here.

If you order something ( starting a new minimum term ) and there is the option to cancel within 14 days , then usually the terms of the previous ‘contract’ , if there is one , are re-established, so if you were within a minimum term for broadband before you took BTTV , you still will be within that minimum term after cancellation of the ‘new’ minimum within its cooling off period ( wether or not you actually have this cooling off period is a different question )

Its is a little fanciful to think someone could simply get out of an existing minimum term , by agreeing to extend it or adding new products to the existing deal, and then simply get out of the entire commitment ( including the original minimum term ) by cancelling within the ‘new’ cooling off period .

During the 14 day cooling off period you change your mind on the new contract, you can revert back to how you were before the new change.
If you were previously in a minimum term, you revert back to that and the previous terms and contract duration.

if you are cancelling new contract within the cooling off period then your revert back to previous contract T&C. if you are cancelling outwith cooling off period then you will incur cancellation charges on your new contract

Another thing to check, if you have subscribed to any extra TV content, like sport, then that has a minimum contract term, and might stop you cancelling without some form of penalty.
