Why am I paying for fibre when the connection to my house consists of 2 copper wires ?

Hi @Switch Because it is Fibre to the cabinet (FTTC)? It would be a different answer if it was Full Fibre (FTTP).

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

Its fibre to the cabinet only, then copper to your house.

BT and other providers call it fibre, which is only partially true.

BT define Full Fibre as fibre direct from the exchange, via splitters, and into your house.

For the same speed, the price is the same for both.

Both @VeteranISPUser and @Keith_Beddoe are correct. Your connection is fibre to the cabinet and copper from cabinet to your home. Take a look at FTTP vs FTTC – what does it all mean? | Openreach which will give you information on the difference.
