What is the cheapest plan for home phone landline?

Currently we have 'Unlimited Weekend Plan' for our home phone.

Is it possible to cancel this and have merely a plan whereby you pay for whatever calls are made from the landline at the appropriate rate for the time of day?

The BT account website seems very keen to get you to upgrade but not downgrade.

The cheapest ( and therefore closest match ) to the old free evenings call plan is the PAYG plan , yours is a legacy plan that is no longer sold , so changing from the old legacy plan to a current plan may require you to call and could potentially affect your minimum term .
