Thank you so much for your experiences with BT.
I am on FFTC and just recently LOST my Landline with 700mins because I was convinced by BT Emails etc that I HAD to accept DV!!
This meant I had to change my router and send back my existing one and then reset my TV,laptops, desktops and mobile phones!!
I feel such a fool now as I realise I DID NOT have to accept DV.
I now have DV Anytime calls which meant an increased charge
All of this started when BT bought EE and changes are still ongoing
How I wish I had just ignored those Emails etc
Thank you for message
Regards
Edward

Good morning

I am approaching the end of my 2yr BT contract

I have Broadband Halo 3,DV calls 700mins,TNT sports package/Discovery+

We have only just lost our fixed Landline in favour of DV which meant of course considerable

resetting of all our mobile phones,TV,laptops and Desktops due to having to change the router

Apart from this the systems are working well, are very stable and I am getting the broadband speeds I should

I am very loath to endure another upheaval by being "nudged" over to EE Broadband with all that entails

I am seeking advice from the forum about my position

I strongly wish to retain my current situation ie Retain my BT Halo3 ,my 700mins call package and my Sports package

If i chose not to renew my contract in order to wait to see what happens with the transition to EE (If I am forced that way) can I retain my current status and stay with BT on a rolling monthly contract indefinitely?

Any advice MOST welcome

Thank you

Regards

Edward

Probably not indefinitely but certainly for a while yet. But you will pay a premium for that as you'll lose any original discount.

As for the phone, it's still a very woolly area. But it appears that the 700 mins package has been withdrawn from sale & only PAYG or Unlimited options remain.

Yes - you can choose to do nothing. Everything will remain the same, you will just going onto a rolling monthly contract which you can exit at any time without penalty. Of course you need to swallow the annual price increases each year so soon it becomes more expensive than a new contract.

At present BT are not pushing broadband customers to EE - BT contracts are still available. The only pushing might be to a full fibre to the premises deal if that is now available in your area.

However there is a strong push going on to go to EE if you have a BT Mobile contract. This is not obligatory and again you can stay on your current contract, but the sales agents have clearly been asked to give it a strong push when you call up.

Changing your hub doesn't have to cause upheaval, simply change the SSID (network name) and wi-fi password of the new hub to match the old one. Your devices won't know the difference

Thank you for your information

Can i please ask for information re Contract renewal and Yearly March increases

I have looked at my BT account on line and there is a box offering RENEW!!

As I am faced with a £6 increase in my payments after the end of March due to Inflation +3.9%

would it be wise to renew now even though my contract only expires on the 11th June?

I believe that if I renew right now I would not have to pay the March increase

Is this true?

Thank you

Edward

Only you can decide if it makes sense to renew now based on what the new vs old price is.

If you fo through the renewal process you should be told what price increases you'll be liable for. Recent posts suggest this now states 2025, but you'd need to confirm with what you see. I'd suggest taking a screen shot if you go ahead to avoid disputes later.

Again, I don't think you can renew the 700 mins element. But that will be confirmed as you go through the renewal order. You should be able to go through the motions to see exactly what's what before committing to the order.

I can confirm that I have offers that state if I take a new contract now I will not have an increase until April 2025.

In my case it would require a bit of an upgrade as I only started my current contract in January.

Hi again

A brief summary as to my efforts to sort out my BT package

When I went to renew -

(1) There were no Broadband upgrades available for me.

I am on Halo3 so that is what I was offered which I accepted

(2) I had a 700mins call package but that is not now available

Options were PAYG or UNLIMITED CALLS

I chose Unlimited calls - This will cost me £12/month which is an increase of approx £4/month

This is a DV package as I lost my landline some weeks ago

(3) With regard to my TNT/Discovery+ package there was NO MENTION of it on the RENEW page

so at this time I have no idea what will happen with that

I would like to thank all who replied to my original post

I feel a little less anxious now as I hope my Broadband and calls packages are now renewed

Thank you

Regards

Edward

That is why I try to change nothing ever even if I pay more and then there is less chance something will go wrong. It is however unfair that customers who don't shop around or renew to get deals and are just rolling on as I have been for years and years get worse prices.

I have done the same as Jane. I've always had contracts but knew that if I renewed on or before my expiry date on 15th March I'd have to upgrade from ADSL to FTTC/FTTP and DV both of which I don't want until I have to. I therefore ignored all BT sales bullying and told them I'd continue on a rolling monthly basis. I'm on it now and still have my 700 minutes call plan but I'm expecting to pay more but so what.

Regards
Edward
