I'm looking after the empty property of a relative who has now moved into care. We will have the house for at least another 6 months before sale. She had I believe an unlimited type BT calls package, as well BT Broadband. I'm looking to reduce the call package to a minimum, or possibly even cancel the phone line completely, not quite decided which as I may stay there occasionally. The broadband must remain on uninterrupted for cameras used to monitor the house from afar.

The relative has just had their quarterly bill. Can anyone tell me what notice period I may be tied to in terms of the timing of any phone package downgrade or line cancellation?

This is just a customer to customer help forum, everyone here, including myself, are just customers.

The only BT Employees are the forum moderators, who may offer to help.

Try calling 0330 1234 150

You can normally remove a call package and revert to PAYG. You can do this via MyBT. I think there is a 30 day notice period before it changes.

You would need to have authority to access the account.

OK thanks, I wondered whether any BT employees lurked here. I'll see if one of them replies before trying the call center, always the last resort for me. Yes I have authority, btw.

The mods only intervene when normal channels have failed, they are not a short cut.

You can message BT using the "message us" links on the help pages. That is usually effective.
