how can I cancel BT broadband/phone

hi - I'm on an old contract and out of contract. BT are ripping me off for 85 quid a month for VDSL. (my fault as I've been lazy).

I already have another provider in and working. so just don't need the BT service. need to cancel and save the money. can I just cancel The Direct debit ?

seems impossible to cancel online ? (I will complain to Ofcom about that for all the good it will do)

doesn't seem to be an online chat facility on BT.COM either or am I missing that ?

You can only cancel by ringing up.

If you cancel your Direct Debit, then it will affect your credit rating and may end up with BT passing any debt to an external agency.

When you cancel you will receive a final bill, and any refund will be paid back via the same account as you have setup for Direct Debit.

Thanks Keith. Not really worried about credit rating tbh but it's hassle either way.
Right I'll have to summon up enthusiasm to ring BT and cancel. Just wanted to see if I'd missed a way to do it online....
