Hi

My contract is up on 14th Dec , and looking my options online yesterday shows this!

On the face of it, I'm being asked to 'upgrade' to the same package with a near enough 25% price hike!!! The only other contract option is to switch to EE for my current price(at least as of 10 minutes ago), but given the stories on here of botched transfers and lost landline numbers I'm not keen. I know there's a big push to move us all to EE eventually, but this is an outrageous rip-off, especially with inflation now around 2%!

I'm tempted just to let it expire and see what happens - there's no mention of any existing discount on my current bills so I doubt any increase would be as big as the 'upgrade'.

Is anyone in or been in a similar position ?

But I'd strongly recommend looking around at alternative supplies, especially with Black Friday coming up.

I'm due to switch shortly.

Oh, there's another dumb thing about my renewal. How much do you reckon I can save by committing for another two years? £3.36. That's not per month, that's over the life of the contract! 🤔

I'll be saving at least £10pm by moving.

Are BT adhering to Ofcom guidelines which can be read on their website? There is a strict procedure broadband suppliers have to adhere to including offering you their cheapest deals and notifying you what new subscribers pay . Read the guidelines and use it when negotiating new contracts.

My contract expires in March but over the last 6 months I have had various options with some being the "This package cannot be renewed" but this always disappears after a short time.

The sad thing is I will not looking for any form of upgrade at all.

Seems the upselling pervades all parts of BT 😂☹️😓

I understand you might not be looking to upgrade the service you have right now @conrad, but I would still recommend speaking with the team about your options for the future. We could technically class this as a re-grade, it's just that this term is not as widely known.

Thank you supplying the term re-grade. Everytime I have seeked advice there has been an attitude of upgrading to solve my problem. I always ask will it commence a new contract and the answer is yes. BT was not always like this
