Wayleave document

Hi,

I placed an order on October 12, 2024, and I’ve been waiting for an update regarding the wayleave document. Without this document being signed, the work cannot be completed.

I’ve been facing delays, and the installation has now been pushed to February 6th due to the wayleave still not being signed. I’m unsure who needs to sign it and would appreciate any help or information on the delay and what I need to do next.

Could anyone assist with this? Thank you.

This is only a customer to customer help forum and is not read by BT. I expect its Openreach that are waiting for the wayleave, so thy can progress your BT order.

understand, but when I spoke to Openreach about the wayleave document, I received conflicting information. At first, they said it involved a third party, then they mentioned the landowner, and later they said it was the landlord. I provided them with my landlord’s name and business address, as they own the land, but Openreach then claimed they sent the wayleave document out without specifying where or to whom.

When I tried to follow up, I was told the document wasn’t needed, only for them to later reverse that and say it is required. This back-and-forth has been ongoing, and I’m unsure how to proceed.

What type of broadband connection have you ordered from BT residential, is there something unusual about your property that involves crossing private land?

Full Fibre Gigabit All Rounder EE smart plus hub
With the digital phone service
They marked outside the car park that’s only thing they have done
Only thing that’s stopping the work is wayleave document if they would of sent it to me I could of got the landlord to sign it but they keep saying we sent it that was on the 19th of November still not received anything from them

Is your order with BT Consumer, or EE, as that sounds like an EE order description?

EE is a separate company within the BT Group, and have their own user forum and moderators.

They not saying who needs to sign the document

All they was saying land owner but I ready given them his business address and name of the landlord even his email too
But they keep telling me different things every time

No they are not, they are separate companies within the BT Group. The info the sales people give is very misleading.

If your order is with EE, then you would need to post on their forum for advice.

There is quite a large team of moderators on the EE forum who can give advice, but none of them have access to your account, but they may advise your best action.

What ‘work’ is required, you mention a car park , is excavation through this car park required ? , what sort of address is it , if it’s a flat/apartment , are you on the ground floor or upper floor so any ‘cables’ would have to be attached to the wall of another flat ( something you can’t give permission for ) ?

OR wayleaves will look on land registry for who owns the freehold and write to them , if this is ( as often is ) a foreign owner , or large company ( insurance company for example ) getting a response can be time consuming, you offering the name of whoever you pay rent to , or who you assume is the freeholder isn’t necessarily what’s recorded on the land registry .

Post the results from this checker for your address , it may well give an insight into why a delay is necessary, although it does seem that it’s purely waiting on acceptance of a wayleave, the other potential problem is if the freeholder says OK to allowing the work but sees an opportunity to fleece Openreach and demands a payment.

It is confusing about EE being a separate company from BT within the BT Group. When I checked a couple of weeks ago the moderators on this BT forum are in fact EE employees according to their profiles.
